Business Opportunity Review: WebProsperity
By · CommentsAbout a week ago a new business opportunity was brought to my attention. From time to time I will review homebased business opportunities here to share what I think may be a good one or what I think may be one to be cautious of.
Of course I can’t make any guarantees that a company is awesome, reliable and trustworthy, but there are definite “red flags” to look for.
This review is for a company that is in pre-launch at the time of writing this review. It’s important to keep in mind that I haven’t used their services since they have not officially launched. According to the company blog, WebProsperity is set to launch Tuesday, January 6, 2009.
I’ve listened to the intro audio a couple of times, read their Terms of Service a couple of times, watched their videos and just finished listening to their pre-launch call.
WebProsperity appears to be a partnership between David D’Arcangelo and Implix (a known and respected international company currently providing reliable tools to internet marketers - GetResponse autoresponder service sound familiar?).
The Service
The comprehensive suite of tools looks impressive…
- Point and click meeting management (conference calls, teleseminars, webinars)
- Contact management system
- Multi-media recording, storage and streaming (audio, video, photos and files)
- Finder system (not 100% sure how this will work, but seems to make it easy to find people in the built-in contact management system)
- Addressbook
- Calendar with reminders
All of the tools are web based which means you can access them anywhere you have an internet connection. I like that all of the tools are integrated which means you don’t have to log into a bunch of different websites and allows everything to be synced instead of patched together.
One of the above systems includes the ability to create marketing campaigns complete with autoresponder messages and cut and paste code for the opt-in lead capture form. Nice.
The Investment
There are two levels of service to choose from during the registration process…
- WebProsperity Premium Package - $29.95/mo.
- WebProsperity Elite Package - $59.95/mo. (recommended - way more bang for your buck)
The WebProsperity Premium Package is basically an entry-level package with limited services. I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone serious about marketing online.
If you want the best suite of tools with unlimited streaming and storage that will really allow you to market effectively online the WebProsperity Elite Package is the way to go.
Pre-Launch
The company is in pre-launch right now which means their services are not available to use, but interested parties can sign up at no cost to secure their “position”. This is a multi-level marketing company which means prospective “business owners” or distributors can earn money based on sales to others as well as on the sales of other people with whom they share the business opportunity with and those they share it with and so on. It’s a trickle down effect known as a downline.
Is It A Scam?
Is this legal? Yes, MLM’s are legal as long as commissions are earned from the actual sales of products or services and not based on recruiting people.
A good way to judge if an opportunity is legal is to look at the product or service and ask yourself if someone would buy it if there were no business opportunity attached. Is it a quality product or service? Is it priced reasonably? Are commissions made only when a product or service sale is made?
In the case of WebProsperity I would venture to say that it is legal because the suite of tools they offer are much more valuable than the cost of their packages. Many MLM’s offer a good product or service, but the price is about triple what you’d pay on the open market. They end up costing you money instead of saving you money.
WebProsperity appears to be the exact opposite in that you actually save money, a lot of money, compared to if you purchased each of their services separately from other providers. I really was impressed at the price point for all that is provided.
There is a 15-day money back guarantee which is good. It gives you an opportunity to test their services and cancel if it isn’t a good fit for you.
Potential Issues
No ethical review would be complete without pointing out current or potential issues.
- The WebProsperity Elite Package allows for processing unlimited contacts, use Media for streaming, sending and transmitting unlimited pictures, documents and media files and creating and streaming 1,000 unique marketing campaigns - My concern is the unlimited and large number of contacts, files and campaigns in that it could slow down their servers. Hopefully they are prepared for this since I have seen some well known internet marketers jump on this (they have a LOT to store).
- Because it is brand new and I am unable to use and test their services I can not vouch for the reliability or ease of use. From the info that has been shared so far it sounds as though it will be easy to use and as you know that’s hugely important to me. Being affordable is one key, but if the average person can’t use it what’s the point?
- There is an unknown set-up fee. I just noticed that the terms of service have changed. It says that there are two payment plans, but only a monthly fee with setup is listed. Previously there was an annual fee option. This may be a financial decision that had to be made based on the large number of pre-enrollees (over 30,000 internationlly), but it’s a change that happened in the last 24 hours. Something to keep an eye on - changes to terms of service.
Summary
Overall I am impressed with the comprehensive suite of services fully integrated into one flash-based system which means it should be easy to use. The price point is outstanding and I’ve never seen a suite of tools that are so feature rich all in one system at such an affordable price.
My concern is in regards to the last minute changes to the terms of service and the inability to test the services to provide a truly complete review. Considering signing up for pre-launch doesn’t cost a penny it’s really a no-risk decision at this point. With a 15-day money back guarantee I’d say it’s worth taking a look at signing up for the service once it actually launches.
I went ahead and signed up for free. I’ll post again after the actual launch so that I can share my initial impressions. If I like what I see, I’ll post again after using the services so that I can provide good feedback on the reliability and ease of use.
If you want to test it with me, go here to register for free and then come back and post your thoughts here or on future related posts.
